Threat rating

The Application Filtering component calculates the threat rating for each application run on your computer. The threat rating is an indicator of how dangerous the application is for the system, and is calculated using two types of criteria:

  • Statistical. These criteria include information about the application's executable file, including the presence of a digital signature and the file size.
  • Dynamic. These criteria are used while simulating the application's operation in a virtual environment, by analysing the application's calls to system functions.

In accordance with the rating values, Application Filtering places applications into groups. The lower the threat rating is, the more system actions the application will be allowed to perform.
