Filters

General information

Filters are used for filtering checks by the value of any check property or several properties.

Example 1

If you want to see all checks with the Error status, you should define the condition Status equal Error. To do it, click the Add New Filter?button on the toolbar, right-click any filter on the Groups panel, and select the ?strong>Add?command from the popup context menu. You will see the dialog window with the properties of a new filter where you can specify the name of the new filter, the group to filter checks in, whether the filter is recursive, i.e. if subgroups of the current group (if there are any) should be included in the search and filtering conditions defining if a check falls under the filter. Specify the name of the new filter, e.g. ?em>Failed Checks? specify the group to search in and whether the filter is recursive. By default, filtering is recursive and is performed in the top group, i.e. all groups will be filtered. To change the group, click the ?strong>Browse? button and select the necessary group in the new dialog window. After that we should specify a filtering condition.
To do it, click the ?strong>Add?button and then set the ?em>Status?property in ?strong>Check Property?and specify ?em>Error?as its ?strong>Value?in the ?em>New Search Condition?dialog window. Click the OK button. Also click the OK button in the dialog window with the filter properties. Now select the created filter on the ?em>Groups?panel. On the ?em>Hosts?panel you will see all checks with the Error status.

Note 1: you can see all the properties of the selected check with their values on the "Properties" tab of the "Information" panel in the main program window.

Note 2: you can see all the properties of the selected check with their values on the "Properties" tab of the "Information" panel. Using the "Copy" and "Copy All" commands from the context menu, you can copy a property name and its value onto the clipboard in the following format: "Property Name" = "Property Value", and afterwards when you click the "Paste from Clipboard" button in the window with the properties of a filtering condition, the "Check Property" and "Value" fields will be filled in with the copied values. Moreover, if you copy several check properties or all its properties, you will see the context menu offering you to select one of the copied properties after you click the "From Clipboard" button. It can be useful if you want to specify several filtering conditions.

Example 2.

Suppose you need to see all started checks of the http port. Find some active http check, make the "Properties" tab on the "Information" panel active. Using the mouse and the Ctrl key, select the following check properties: "Port Name", "State" "Type Name" - and select the "Copy" command from the context menu or just use the Ctrl+C key combination. Thus, you copy these property names and their values onto the clipboard. After that click the "Add New Filter" button on the toolbar and specify the new filter name in the dialog window, e.g. "HTTP Checks", leave the group values as default. Click the "Add" button and in the new "New Search Condition" dialog window click the "From Clipboard" button. Select the "Port Name = HTTP (80)" item from the popup context menu and click the OK button. Then we add conditions for the other two properties and click the OK button in the dialog window with filter properties. The task is over.
