MAC Address Discovery can correlate
IP Addresses and Physical Addresses. The MAC Address Discovery
tool can discover the MAC addresses for the devices that are
physically attached to your local subnet. You can use Network
Sonar and the Switch Port Mapper to discover MAC addresses of
devices connected to remote subnets.
MAC Address Discovery can tell you
the MAC addresses, Hardware Manufacturer, IP address, and hostnames
of the devices connected to your subnet.

Getting Started
Select the local subnet from the
drop down list. If your PC is only attached to one subnet, then you
will only have one choice in the drop down list.
The best method of discovering the
MAC Addresses for other subnets is to place the SolarWinds tools on
a laptop and take the laptop to the remote subnet and plug it
in. However, you can use Network Sonar and the Switch Port
Mapper to discover MAC addresses of devices connected to remote
subnets.
Click on the
button to start
the discovery.
